SEEING THROUGH COLOUR

Smurf'n my way through autumn - A Soul of A Nation

A quick hello from yesterdays eventful day - a necessary trip to the Tate Museum with a few friends to check out “A soul of a nation” exhibition. As we’re deep into autumn and black history month, this weekend was the perfect time to head to an exhibition centred around black art. (which was incredible!)

As if the exhibition itself didn't make a statement, my coat sure as well did! I looked like a damn smurf, but I loved it!

Electric blue isn’t exactly autumn’s inclusive colour & its rich vibrance is exactly what drew me to it - opposites attract.

Fun fact - Blue is known to be associated with confidence, wisdom, loyalty, peace and power and spirituality, all positive aspects which represent how i’ve been feeling over this past month.

I’ve always steered away from bright colours, perhaps out of fear and not wanting to be seen. I love being in my own world and quiet space and have always felt that wearing bright colours would often take me away from that. As time passes I find myself becoming more and more comfortable with stepping out of my comfort zone and can see this just be looking at my wardrobe. For years I was used to the same old song and am finally taking steps in pushing the minor boundaries I hold against myself. I’d wear nothing but black or neutral colours and have perhaps convinced myself over time that colour wasn’t for me.

It sounds ridiculous to think that wearing a bright blue suede jacket brings such thoughts to mind, but so often we overlook the smaller things in life which could easily lead to wider perspectives.

I can’t wait to have some fun with colourful pieces over the next few remaining months of the year. I'm currently feeling electric blue, deep emerald green and oatmeal beige this season!
