I first discovered Briana on tumblr and was taken back by not only her tumblr blog images but her mind, the way she put words together in creating thought provoking sentences, her intelligence and confidence.

Back then she was already viewed as an inspiration to others and since having started her own brand after moving from Texas to New York & now settled in L.A, the girl is a fearless creative!

Matte Brand launched in the fall of 2014, honing in on necessities of minimal design. Having kept its focus in creating basics, it continues to release collections which offer comfort & unique style with ease. Processing orders as an online store, the models chosen to represent Briana’s visions are females of different shades and sizes, that portray the significance in women of colour and body shapes, which are more realistic as opposed to what society pushes to our Tv screens & magazines.

Her drive and work ethic is seen through her marketing skills, social media influence, bold & beautiful imagery of collections and when she took to social media to announce that she’d be making an appearance in London in late September, I was ready!

I had the pleasure of meeting her on the 21st of september and a chance to view the newest collection ‘Siren,’ worn by some of the most stunning models. Before speaking with a few and Briana herself, I managed to get my hands on the ‘working girl’ crop top, which i’ve already taken for a spin on a night out, but can’t wait to start pairing with items to create some of the comfiest looks.
I’m interested to see how future collections are executed and how the future journey of Matte Brand unfolds.
