Spring is finally here people & if you’re living in london too, you’re probably just as excited as I am to see a little bit of sun peeking from the clouds.
Spring is most likely the trickiest season to get dressed in. English weather isn’t always regularly smiles and roses and it seems we’re always left indecisive in putting away our coats and jumpers, only to need them at some point during the day anyway. At this time of year, I always stick to light layering and never forget to put an umbrella in my handbag/clutch.
At the moment i’m inspired by 70’s suede, Cartier’s diamond collection, 90’s ribbed style dresses/crop tops/cardigans, vibrant colours, Louis Vuitton mini trunks and Fendi SS/15 everything!
Although i’m not the biggest fan of trends, (which will be explained in detail in a later post) spring is perhaps the best time of year to pay attention to it, when having difficulty in what to wear. So here goes...
FLORALS - Not everybody is a big fan of floral print. I’m one of those people. It’s daring and girly but what might not work for some people, works for others. There’s no harm in trying it. There’s many different floral patterned dresses out there at the moment, but if you don’t feel too comfortable doing it big, try a pair of tailored trousers or an A-lined skirt, which will ease you into that particular style. You don’t always have to go for a bright floral pattern either, a floral cut out isn’t a bad idea. I personally find floral cut out/ lace dresses look fantastic and plan to grab a bunch in late spring.
DENIM - Say hello to an everyday wardrobe staple. It’s easy and today there are new polished designs and ways to wear it. Invite a denim skirt/ light jacket/ shirt into your life.
1970’S SUEDE - Today’s new spring essential. I’m not too fond of the material made for anything other than a skirt/dress to be honest, but it’s definitely something that i’ve grown to like in the last couple of weeks, paired best with toned down neutral colours and modern shapes.
EDGY CHIC - Leather is the type of material which is sometimes hard to say no to, but in this case the obvious rockstar leather look isn’t needed and heads turn to softer materials such as silk. Try to play with sheer tops, silk blouses and bodysuits (if you're brave enough).
BASICS - We live for the basics! Basic clothing like t-shirts and jeans in every colour gives our wardrobes versatility and in a country like the U.K as well as many other places around the world, basics are always a good idea. Sometimes you’re completely stuck starring at your clothing rail/ wardrobe for what could seem like hours, when the answer is just to fling on a basic tee and pair of jeans. Pair your outfit with the classic trench coat, some kick ass heels or a pair of trainers to keep things sexy/ cool and go about your day.
Nevertheless, welcome spring with open arms, after all it’s a sign that summer is on the way and on that note don’t be afraid to play around with different styles and trends. Find what suits you and makes you feel confident.
Hope you all enjoyed your bank holiday and easter weekend!
