LCM WITH CLARA MARTIN

London Collections Men: Clara Martin SS16
Still in high spirits over London Collections Men, which focused on the emerging aptitude of  brands and streetwear designers....I present to you....Clara Martin!

I took a trip down to the showroom held at the Hospital club in Covent Garden and was blown away when I came across Clara’s collection.

From the look of her current and previous collections it is evident that a designer as such pays close attention to detail, the importance in material choice, unique quality and concept.  During an event outlined to present talented british and global inspired fashion, Clara is definitely one to watch!

Clara’s theme was based on thoughts of preserving the childhood that slips away from us as we grow, which consisted of bright coloured shorts, tops, jackets and a tracksuit. Today it’s usually considered that females tend to wear more brightly coloured clothes then men, but in this case the script has flipped and it’s a job well done.  Each day from Friday 12th to Monday 15th of June, model; Oliver showcased different outfits selected from the collection and it appealed to me how fantastic it was to see a man in bright bold colours and textures.

It seems as though Clara is always striving beyond boundaries within the fashion industry. Her talent and drive is expressed through her work ethic, merging knitted material, tailoring, colour block, detail and texture. It’s fantastic to see a designer who is experimental in her work, yet still manages to execute her concepts.

My favourite pieces from this collection were the white knitted shorts, (was literally obsessed with them) the blue ‘Jordy’ tracksuit, kitted with incredible detail and the pink leather jacket.

This is a designer who deserves all credit for creating her line herself by hand and developing innovative visions for menswear design.  I’m incredibly interested to see what’s next on the cards for Clara Martin.
